Planning Consent Secured for Two New Data Centres at Elevate Quarter, Stevenage
Reef Origin, in joint venture with UBS, is delighted to announce that planning consent has been granted for the development of two state‑of‑the‑art data centres at Elevate Quarter, Stevenage — a 30‑acre Life Science and Knowledge Campus at the heart of one of the UK’s fastest‑growing innovation clusters.
This milestone marks a significant step forward in delivering next‑generation digital infrastructure to support the region’s expanding life science, research, and technology ecosystem. The project will bring together advanced data centre capacity, supercomputing capability, and high‑value knowledge occupiers, strengthening Stevenage’s position as a nationally important hub for science and innovation.
Will Rohleder, Partner at Reef Origin, commented: “We are delighted to have secured planning approval for a significant data centre development. This is a major step forward for Stevenage and its growing life science and innovation cluster. This milestone reflects our commitment to delivering next‑generation digital infrastructure that supports high‑value jobs, research excellence, and long‑term regional growth.”
Power upgrade works are already underway, with a 24 MVA supply scheduled to be delivered on site by Q1 2027. Wider construction is set to begin later this year.
The development forms part of a wider 110MW site located approximately 40km from Central London, within the London Public Cloud Region — one of the world’s most important hubs for public cloud infrastructure and home to key regions for leading global cloud providers.
Reef Origin and UBS look forward to bringing this ambitious project to life and contributing to the continued growth of Stevenage’s vibrant life science and technology ecosystem.
